METALSIDER has made significant investments in the environmental control of the productive process, reducing effluent generation. Some procedures stand out:

• Installation of modern systems to receive and handle raw materials, especially charcoal. When charcoal is unloaded in the blast furnace, exhaustion equipment was implemented to avoid dust;
• System to control, drain and perform the primary treatment of rainwater all throughout the plant;
• Company's own water treatment system. All the water used in the production process is recirculated, and does not generate process effluents;
• Systems to control and reused gases generated;
• Constant maintenance of yards and unpaved access ways. Water trucks are used to avoid dust;
• Implementation of the “Green Belt”, which is composed of trees and plants that surround the industrial park and internal areas. Together the landscaping projects, the "Green Belt" improves weather conditions, integrating the industrial plant into the environment.
